In such a condition of prolonged sleep, one’s dream states take on the continuity of ordinary waking life. This particular dream was more feeling than image, more emotion than plot. She knew this was where it all ended, although it showed itself as a where not by the appearance of a landscape or of a topography of any sort. Rather, it showed its whereness by overwhelming whiteness. Pure aloneness.
